The JahOfYork Collective Is Born

Ok so there was a bit more than I told you about my Neo-Nights Jam Session concept. It has been my focus however I have been coordinating many side-projects parallel to it as any artist would. I have been building a band. Why to create new material with -  a new live-feel project! Also, to bring an earthly dynamic to my contemporary sounds and ideas. This diverse 5-man band all living in Berlin consists of Drum, Bass, Guitar, Lead & Backing Vocal. We are mainly performing Neo-funk and Neo-soul fused with Pop, Jazz and Hip-Hop elements…many things you have heard from JahOfYork recorded however, more recent works and with live arrangements.

I encourage you to chech us out at a gig in the near future and register with our mailinglist on Reverbnation. Keep in mind that JahOfYork is still amongst us and continues to create, reachable via personal FB account of course!

JahOfYork presents Neo-Nights Jam Session at Little Stage, Berlin

So there I was at the Little Stage in Neukölln (Southeast Berlin) sipping on my Hefeweizen beer (wheat beer…lol) in the middle of a small break at their regular Friday Open-Mics. In a daze from all of the lighting and handcrafted labor and paintings that the owners injected into the venue, I thought, how can an amazing venue like this go unseen and unheard of. I sip. It was like an amusement park, after-hours spot, bar and lounge, with personality. As I gazed at the hand-painted murals of Berlin city highlights on the walls, discovered the lower-level with full-size pool table, huge flatscreen tv and sofas every damn where, I was captured. I now take generous sip and begin towards the Little Stage itself. Marcel handed me the mic warmly and I begin singing a number  acapella without instrument, just a colorful assortion of stagelights hitting my skin.

Of course nights just don’t happen, it takes a certain amount of desire, effort, selflessness, unity and trust to create a successful event. The other bits and details  fall into place naturally! So many people have been amazingly supportive and helped flourish this regular Friday night event and so now…

Sessions starts: 8:30pm (20.30) until 12midnite (00.00)…
…however, we continue unofficially until the wee hours of the morning with international and local patrons. THIS is one of the most chill spots in all of Berlin.

Hear a combination of pure improv, mixed original songs from original artists (including including myself, JahOfYork). Genres include but, are not limited to: Neo-Soul, Funk, Jazz, Soul, Blues, Latin and Innovation.
